Changes Approved To National Grid Bills

(Warwick, RI)  --  The Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission is approving changes to electricity and gas rates requested by National Grid.  The agreement, approved on Friday for the distribution side of bills, will allow the utility to raise additional revenues to the tune of more than 78-million dollars over the next three years, which is only a fraction of what National Grid had requested.  The settlement will result in a three-percent increase for residential customers and a four-percent increase for industrial users of electricity starting in the fall.  Gas rates will be going down across the board, especially for low-income customers.
