(Portsmouth, RI) -- The Portsmouth Police Department is going through a trial run of equipping officers with body cameras. The department says two officers are volunteering to wear the devices this month, thanks to a free offer from the camera manufacturer. Officials say that could lead to officers permanently wearing them. The police chief would have to take the suggestion to the town council, which would then have to issue approval.
