Teen Shot Near School Dead, One Person In Custody

(Providence, RI)  --  A 15-year-old Providence boy is dead after a shooting near several schools on Wednesday.  The Providence Police Department says someone introduced a gun into a disturbance near Central High School and the Providence Career and Technical Academy at around 2 p.m. and fired a single shot, resulting in the victim, a Central High School student, dying at Hasbro Children's Hospital about an hour later.  Authorities say another teen who was shot about a mile from the school minutes after the original shooting is a person of interest in the first shooting and has been taken into custody.  Students who were at the tech academy and nearby Classical High School, as well as those who had not already been dismissed at Central, were put on lockdown after the incident.
