Educational Tall Ship Won't Sail South Next Year

(Newport, RI)  --  A Rhode Island educational tall ship is taking a break from its travel schedule while the non-profit organization that runs it re-thinks its business strategy.  The SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, which was just declared the official flagship and tall ship ambassador in the state this summer, will not make what has been an annual trip south next spring and will remain at a soon-to-be-announced location in Rhode Island, according to the Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island organization.  Officials said not enough programs were sold to make the trip a reality.  The two-hundred-foot, three-masted vessel embarked on her maiden sail in 2015.
