Providence Gasoline Spill Update

(Providence, RI)  --  The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said late Thursday night that Allens Avenue and the on-ramp from Allens to Interstate 95 in Providence are expected to be reopened this morning after a fuel truck spilled thousands of gallons of gasoline on Wednesday night.  Meanwhile, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and the non-profit group Save the Bay are monitoring Narragansett Bay for potential impacts like dead fish or distressed birds.  So far, they say they haven't seen anything like that.  DEM photos showed fuel sheening on the Providence River near where storm drains from Allens Avenue run off.
