Whitehouse, Mattiello Participate In Debates

(Undated)  --  Democratic incumbents in Rhode Island participated in debates this weekend as the 2018 general election draws closer.  Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and his Republican opponent Robert Flanders held an hour-long debate at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, their second, which was sponsored by The Providence Journal, The Public's Radio and URI.  Topics included health care, immigration and safety net programs.  Rhode Island House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello and GOP challenger Steven Frias held their only debate on WPRI-TV on Friday and argued over topics including the Pawtucket Red Sox and the state economy.
