Husband, Stepdaughter Of Providence Native Smith Arraigned For Her Murder

(Brownsville, TX)--Court appearances were made on Monday by the new suspects in the death of a woman from Providence.Jacquelyn Smith's stabbing death in Baltimore in December was originally blamed on a panhandler, but police are now charging her husband, Keith Smith, and his daughter, Valeria Shavon Smith, with first-degree murder.The two were arraigned in Cameron County, Texas court on Monday after Baltimore police said they were picked up near the U.S.-Mexico border, apparently trying to flee the country.Jacquelyn Smith was a graduate of Classical High School in Providence, and a funeral was held for her in the city.
