Wyatt Bondholders Sue Over ICE

(Central Falls, RI)--Bondholders for the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls are filing a federal lawsuit over the effort to remove Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detainees. The detention center's board of directors voted last week to temporarily suspend its contract with ICE and ask that all ICE detainees be moved out of the city within a week. The suit was filed yesterday by UMB Bank against the city of Central Falls and the Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation claiming the move could cost bondholders over 130-million dollars. An ICE detainee died at Wyatt in 2008 and the facility started contracting with the federal agency again last month, sparking protests.
