Medical Transportation Service Gets More Heat

(Providence, RI)--The new company tasked with providing non-emergency medical transportation is receiving another round of criticism at the State House.Members of the House Oversight Committee were informed on Thursday that missed appointments, canceled rides and other problems have persisted with St. Louis-based Medical Transportation Management, which has already gotten a million-dollar penalty.One committee member, Representative Anastasia Williams, called for the state's contract with MTM to be canceled.MTM officials said there has been improvement, and that the complaints have declined since January, when the company's contract started.
