Retailer Admits To Selling Counterfeit Goods To Military

(Providence, RI)--A wholesale retailer from Brooklyn pleaded guilty in federal court in Providence yesterday to conspiring to sell counterfeit goods to the U.S military and others.The U.S. Justice Department says Ramin Kobanbash and others arranged to sell more than twenty-million dollars worth of Chinese-made counterfeit goods.Among the fake products: parkas that falsely said they contained fabric that is designed to be more difficult to see with night-vision goggles and hoods that said they were flame-resistant, but were not.U.S. Attorney Aaron Weisman says the uniforms worn by military members are meant to protect them as they carry out their mission, not to put them in harm's way.
