Donatella Versace Named Stonewall Ambassador

Donatella Versace is being recognized for her longtime support of the LGBTQ community. Ahead of Stonewall Day, the fashion designer has been named an official Stonewall ambassador alongside Hillary Clinton and Conchita Wurst by the non-profit organization Pride Live.

“Words cannot express how honored I am to have been named an ambassador of Stonewall Inn,” Versace says in a statement. “I believe that no one should be judged for his or her sexual orientation, but also for the color of their skin of their religious belief. In 2019 it is not acceptable that there are people who live in fear because of the person they love.”

Versace is a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community – her brother Gianni was one of the first openly gay fashion designers. To benefit Stonewall Day and Pride Live, Versace will release a limited-edition 50th anniversary Stonewall t-shirt.
