EEE Patient Dies, First EEE Death In State In Over Decade

(Undated)--The one person in Rhode Island who has been diagnosed this year with Eastern equine encephalitis has died.The Rhode Island Department of Health did not identify the West Warwick resident in announcing the death on Monday, but said the individual was in their 50s.The health department said this was the first triple-E fatality in Rhode Island since 2007.Airplane spraying missions targeting mosquitoes were carried out in critical-risk areas of the state on Sunday and Monday.
