Joaquin Phoenix Says Best “Joker” Moment Was Cut

Todd Phillips highly-anticipated –and controversial– upcoming film “The Joker” may have gotten an eight-minute standing ovation at Venice Film Festival this year... but star Joaquin Phoenix says the movie doesn’t even include what he thinks is his best moment.

In a new interview, the actor says that he struck gold with a “particular take” during filming, which became his favorite moment in the movie. But fans won’t see it when “The Joker” hits theaters – the take itself might have been great, but after a bunch of tweaking and experimenting, it “just didn’t work” with the rest of the scene.

“We would do scenes so many different ways and some I would cry and others I would make jokes and it would be the same scene and they all made sense,” he explains. “It’s a cliche, but it’s a puzzle… an earlier take, one that I didn’t think was very good, was the one that worked best.”
