Charges Dropped Against Convict After Evidence ID's RI Man As Killer

(Worcester, MA)--The district attorney of Worcester County, Massachusetts is dropping a murder charge against a man who was behind bars for 35 years as the evidence now points to a deceased Rhode Islander.Gary Cifizzari of Taunton has been out of prison since July, but now he'll stay out after the D.A.'s action on Tuesday regarding the Milford case that pegged him for the death of his great-aunt.Attorneys for Cifizzari said earlier this year that DNA testing of the victim identified Michael Giroux as the killer; Giroux died in North Providence in 2014.The prosecutor's office said yesterday that additional DNA test prompted his office to drop the charges against Cifizzari.
