Rhode Island Election System Security Being Enhanced

(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Board of Elections is taking action to make the state's voting system more secure.The Providence Journal reports the board unanimously voted on Tuesday to purchase new modems for machines that count votes and also to embrace other recommendations from a security assessment.Those recommendations include disconnecting the voting system from the public internet and setting up a private connection to transmit unofficial results to election headquarters on election night.
