Smithfield PD Says K-9 Needed Treatment For Drug Exposure

(Smithfield, RI)--The Smithfield Police Department says a police dog on the force made a fast recovery after an exposure to fentanyl.The police department says K-9 officer Ajax had to receive veterinary treatment after police executed a search warrant at a Smithfield house on December 20th as part of a months-long investigation into illegal drug sales in East Providence and Fall River, dubbed "Operation Mouse Trap."A man arrested in connection with that search, Adriny Bernard, appeared in court on Thursday to answer to drug-possession and trafficking charges and is being held without bail pending a status hearing next week.
