(Providence, RI)--Second Amendment rights supporters went to the Rhode Island State House to rally on Thursday. There were hearings in both chambers this week to consider a handful of new gun laws that have been introduced in response to recent shootings in Pawtucket and Westerly, plus bills were re-introduced to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. The issue of gun control will stay in the spotlight in the state this month when former Congresswoman and shooting victim Gabby Giffords visits to speak at a gun violence prevention fundraiser; that's scheduled for January 30th, according to a report from The Providence Journal.
