Ethics Commission Dismisses GOP Complaint Against Governor

(Providence, RI)--The Rhode Island Ethics Commission on Tuesday voted to dismiss an ethics complaint filed by the state's Republican Party against Governor Raimondo.The complaint centered around the fact that Raimondo was pushing for a no-bid contract extension to have IGT run the state's lottery while at the same time, former IGT chairman Donald Sweitzer was serving as treasurer for the national Democratic Governors Association while Raimondo was chairing the DGA; Sweitzer also serving as a lobbyist for IGT.The Ethics Commission vote was 7-to-1.The lottery contract was being reviewed by the General Assembly before the coronavirus emergency.
