Governor Doesn't Foresee Way Around State Worker Furloughs-Layoffs

(Providence, RI)--Governor Gina Raimondo said Tuesday she doesn't think the state can avoid furloughs or layoffs of state workers at this point with the state now facing a huge budget gap caused by the coronavirus.Raimondo said she doesn't know where 800-million-dollars, the estimated deficit, is going to be found, and she said everything is going to be on the table when the budget gets hammered out at the State House.Raimondo said she is depending on Congress to pass another state aid package.
