(Newport, RI)--The Newport City Council unanimously voted last night to table consideration of a proposal to mandate wearing face masks downtown.Councilor Susan Taylor introduced the requirement after she said she heard from residents and business owners concerned about tourists not complying.Others on the council expressed concerns about how the mandate would be enforced.The council plans to take up the proposal again in one week.
