(Providence, RI) -- Sabina Matos resigns as Providence's City Council President in preparation for taking on the Lieutenant Governor's role. Matos' resignation yesterday goes into effect April 13th. She is expected to be confirmed as Lieutenant Governor this coming Tuesday. The shuffle comes after President Biden selected now former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo as Commerce Secretary, leading Lieutenant Governor Daniel McKee to step down in order to take on the Governor's role.
