State Health Insurance Commissioner Rejects Rate Increases

(Providence, RI) -- The Rhode Island Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner is ruling on several requested rate increases. The office did not approve a 3% increase in the individual market that was requested by Blue Cross Blue Shield RI.  Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island requested an 8.5% increase in the individual market, but only got approved for 3.5%. Health Insurance Commissioner Patrick Tigue cited concerns about affordability for customers during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
