State Resident Celebrating Tony Award

A Rhode Islander has won a Tony Award.

Andrew Burnap won best leading actor in a play in the performance of "The Inheritance" on Broadway.

He was recognized for his portrayal of Toby Darling in the presentation which honored the legacy of the Aids crisis.

Burnap is from South Kingstown and participated in the theatre program at the University of Rhode Island.

He says he was brought up by an amazing community of people
