A Providence police officer involved in a crash that seriously injured a moped rider is being promoted to detective this afternoon.
Kyle Endres was pursuing a moped in October of 2018, when it crashed leaving the injured man in a coma.
Endres was briefly suspended for violating the department's pursuit policy.
The crash sparked protests in the city and the victim's family filed a lawsuit that is still pending.
