Gov McKee Investing In Small Business, Tourism In "Writing Next Chapter"

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee is filing budget amendments which will invest 113 million dollars in federal pandemic relief funding into various aspects of the state’s economy.

The Governor says that he is writing the next chapter of the state--investing in small business, childcare and tourism.

Among the spending is 32 million dollars for small business retention and development.

Seven million dollars will be invested in tourism including creating safe business districts which include improved ventilation.

The Governor says that the state is seeing a more than seven percent increase in the Gross Domestic Product in the state during the second quarter. The Governor says Rhode Island is better off than most other states in the region.

The Governor's spending plan will need legislative approval.
