Power Restored Slowly And Over Days In State

National Grid is continuing to restore power to Rhode Islanders who lost it in a nor'easter that struck Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

National Grid reported nearly 19-thousand power outages in Rhode Island as of 2 a.m. Thursday.

That number has been slowly reduced as the morning progresses.

A spokesperson for the power company says the effort to fully-restore electricity will take days.

Crews were hampered from the very start of the restoration effort.

Since it was not safe to begin pole work because winds were still gusting, service was further delayed.
