Cause Sought For Friday Cranston Fire

Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins says the fire which destroyed a multi family home on Lincoln Avenue Friday morning was likely caused by an outside heater used for warming animals.

Firefighters called to the home shortly after 3AM Friday morning to find the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters say the winds that blew Friday morning spread the flames so that in all five buildings were damaged.

None of the residents of any of the homes were hurt. But firefighters say that several cats, ferrets and rabbits were killed.

The State Fire Marshal has begun an investigation.
