Five Arrested, 13 Homeless In Separate Fireworks Blazes

Providence Public Safety officials had a busy Fourth of July.

At the Police Department officials say that five people were arrested overnight for allegedly setting off fireworks in the middle of the street.

Police called out to the area around Glenham and Taylor Streets for a fire caused by the fireworks.

The incident a little more stressful for crews as they worked to make sure that the fire did not spread to either the parked cars on the street or nearby houses.

That was not the only issue however.

Fire officials say 13 people were left homeless after a firework went off course and hit a house setting it on fire.

Crews were called to the area of Harvard Avenue right around 10 last night.

There were no injuries reported.

The American Red Cross is helping those who need assistance in connection with the blaze.
