Secretary Of The State Tests Positive For Covid

There is plenty of pandemic related news in the state.

Rhode Island has reported five new coronavirus deaths in the last week.

The pandemic death toll for the Ocean State on Tuesday was updated to three-thousand-611.

Rhode Island's seven-day average was over eight-hundred virus cases at the peak of the mini-surge that was experienced this spring, but that number is now down to about two-hundred.

Meantime, Rhode Island Secretary of State and Democratic candidate for governor Nellie Gorbea has tested positive for COVID.

Her office says she is experiencing very mild symptoms and will quarantine at home for the next five days.

Gorbea marched in Bristol's Fourth of July parade Monday.
