The National Weather Service says there is an elevated danger for fires in Southern New England on Friday.

The threat is being caused by a combination of drought conditions, low humidity levels and gusty winds.

The drought, with no end in sight encompasses the entire state.

Forecasters say the highest wind gusts in the region today are expected across southeastern Massachusetts.

Several acres of the Spring Lake Fishing Area in Burrillville burned on Thursday night.

That brush fire is being investigated as possibly suspicious.

It may be into the weekend before it is completely out. Two acres consumed by the flames.
