Convicted Coleman To Appeal In Correia Case

Louis Coleman of Providence is appealing his federal conviction for causing a kidnapping-related death.

Coleman was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted earlier this year for the death of Boston woman Jassy Correia in 2019.

Prosecutors said Correia got a ride with Coleman after she left a Boston nightclub.

Her body was found in the trunk of Coleman's car on I-95 in Delaware.

Coleman's attorneys filed a notice of appeal of both Coleman's conviction and sentence in U.S. District Court in Boston on Thursday.

No specific reason was provided in court documents.

It is unclear when the actual appeal will be filed.
