Charges Dropped In Newport Viral Arrests

Two men charged in connection to a viral confrontation with police in Newport have had their charges dropped.

The Rhode Island Attorney General's Office investigated the incident last June outside of a bar on Thames Street.

Dennis Engelson was arrested for disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing a silicon bar mat at pedestrians.

He was also charged with obstructing an officer and resisting.

Christopher Adam was seen on video getting hit in the face and being slammed to the ground for allegedly trying to interfere with Engelson's arrest.

The A-G also says that Newport officers were not charged with excessive force.
