State Grants Waiver For Barrington High School Seniors

A Rhode Island high school is going back to its original graduation date after making a controversial change.

There was outcry on Thursday after it was announced the June 4th ceremony had to be delayed by one week because seniors were below the minimum number of required days in class.

The Barrington School District applied for a waiver from the Rhode Island education commissioner on Friday, and it was granted.

EastBayRI.com reports superintendent Michael Messore apologized to seniors and their families for the "trauma, stress and interruption" caused by the original communication.
