State To Keep Providence Shelter Open Until Mid May

A temporary warming shelter at the Cranston Street Armory in Providence that opened this winter is remaining in operation until May 15th.

Rhode Island Housing Secretary Stefan Pryor announced the extension.

The warming center has been staffed by the Amos House and the Rhode Island National Guard.

Pryor says there are about one-hundred-fifty people per night who are currently using the facility.
