Local Man Convicted Of Fatal Shooting

A man has been convicted of a murder in Providence.

A jury on Thursday found Isaiah Pinkerton guilty of first-degree charge for the shooting death of Miya Brophy-Baermann.

State prosecutors said Brophy-Baermann's boyfriend was targeted in a drive-by shooting on Olney Street August 1st, 2021.

He was mistakenly thought to be a rival gang member.

Brophy-Baermann, who was from Warwick, had just graduated from Northeastern University.

A sentencing for Pinkerton is pending.

A second defendant is awaiting trial.
