Algae Outbreaks Reported In Local Waterways

No-contact orders have been issued for three of the state's waterways because of toxic blue-green algae.

The algae is blooming at Boone Lake in Exeter, Little Beach in Slack Reservoir in Smithfield/Johnston and Thurston Gray Pond in Portsmouth.

The blooms give a pea soup effect on the surface.

Any activity that would mean contact with the water like swimming, paddling or boating are banned.

Do not allow pets to come in contact with the water and wash skin as soon as possible if contact is made.
