Cranston School Committee Member Arrested For Embezzling PTO Funds

State Police say they have arrested a School Committee member in Cranston on charges that she allegedly embezzled school funds from a school PTO and then tried to cover it up.

Tera Norberg is also the President of the Stone Hill Elementary School PTO.

It is in that capacity that police say in July of 2023 that police began their investigation. Prosectors allege that Norberg first report a discrepancy in the account and even went as far as to identify a suspect.

State Police say later in the investigation she admitted to making it up.

Ms. Norberg was promptly charged with Unlawful Appropriation, Embezzlement, Giving False Document to Public Official, and Obstructing an Officer in Execution of Duty in accordance with Rhode Island General Laws.

She has been arraigned and released on personal recognizance. A pre-trial conference is set for October 11.

Cranston School officials have not commented.
