Solutions Sought For Cranston Road Flooding

The Cranston Public Works Committee is seeking ways to prevent roadways from flooding.

Yesterday the committee discussed potential causes, remedies and repair costs after heavy rainfall rendered several city roadways impassable earlier this week.

The city's environmental program manager said the current underground piping system isn't built to handle brief and intense rainfall.

The manager said the piping systems on larger roadways will cost millions of dollars to replace.

Officials say city leaders are planning to meet with the Department of Transportation to discuss potential.
