Providence Police: Threat Unfounded At City Hall

Providence Police say they received a call from someone that suggested they would be shooting from the garage across from city hall, prompting a large police presence and the need for city hall to be evacuated for a time.

In the end police say the threat was unfounded and employees were allowed back in the building.

The incident which began at 3 this afternoon stopped bus service for a time in the downtown area. But it appears that everything now is returning to normal.

Police are now seeking the author of the threat. They have made no arrests.
