Elections Commission To Do Its Own Query On Signature Tiff

The Rhode Island Board of Elections voted Tuesday to review all of the campaign signatures submitted by the Sabina Matos congressional campaign.

The signatures have come under scrutiny after officials in three towns alleged their names were forged on the petitions.

It remains unclear whether the action will have any effect on Matos' name appearing on the ballot. Her campaign says that there have been sufficient enough signatures submitted that were certified so that there should be no negative impact.

Last week, the board said they were confident Matos had enough valid signatures to qualify.

Matos, the Rhode Island lieutenant governor, is running in the September 5th primary for the 1st Congressional District seat left vacant by David Cicilline.
