Flawed DNA Leads To New Trial In Providence Murder Case

A New Bedford, Massachusetts man who was convicted of a murder in Providence has been granted a new trial.

Terrel Barros, who is now 34 years old, was sentenced to a pair of consecutive life terms for killing Jamal Cruz outside the Monet Lounge in 2012.

The Providence Journal reports a Rhode Island Superior Court judge found that state prosecutors relied on false or misleading DNA evidence on the gun that was used.
