Investigation Continues But Matos Will Remain On Congressional Ballot

Lt Governor Sabina Matos will continue her run for Congress.

The State Elections Commission ruled this afternoon that while there were issues with the candidate's signatures, she did have enough qualified and certified signatures to remain on the ballot.

The Commission reviewed more than 12 hundred signatures and found that many were invalid based on the person not being registered, or signatures did not match with what was on record.

In fact, of the 12 hundred signatures reviewed 559 of them were disqualified and more than 700 were approved. Officials say that they will continue to investigate but that won't commence until after the September 5 primary.

Meantime, a separate investigation is being conducted by the State Attorney General but there is no word on when that will be concluded.
