Man Arrested In Dispute Over Beach Access

A waterfront property owner in Rhode Island was arrested on Sunday after reportedly objecting to the state's new shoreline access law.

Andrew McClatchy, who owns property next to North Kingstown Town Beach, objected to a family sitting on the beach near his house.

McClatchy allegedly antagonized the family and broke their beach umbrella when they refused to leave.

He is facing misdemeanor charges of vandalism and disorderly conduct.

The new law, which has become the subject of a lawsuit, sets the constitutional right of shoreline access below the high tide line, also known as the seaweed line.
