Cumberland Postpones Vote On School Bus Cameras

A proposal to catch drivers who go around school buses picking up and dropping off kids in Cumberland was tabled at a school committee meeting on Thursday. The cameras would activate when the bus puts out its stop sign.

The Cumberland Police Department would review the video, and drivers could be fined or have their license suspended.

Superintendent Phil Thornton says too many drivers are passing stopped buses.

The discussion was put on hold until the school board's next meeting.
