Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins has dropped a controversial plan to have the city possibly buy the historic Park Theatre.
The proposal would have converted the theatre on Park Avenue into an educational center.
Critics called the plan a taxpayer bailout for a former Cranston City Council member, Ed Brady, who is a theatre co-owner.
They Mayor says he will look to other sites for a community center.
