State Has Cold Weather Plan For Homeless This Winter

The state has rolled out a winter strategy for dealing with homelessness.

It includes a 30 percent increase in available beds in Rhode Island's shelter system.

Coordinating with communities, service providers and religious groups to provide more beds.

And a pilot program that could provide 30 to 45 rapidly deployed shelter units in either Pawtucket or Providence.
