MA Native In Maine Offers Insight In Shooting Aftermath

While Maine residents continue to deal with the aftermath of a mass shooting in Lewiston, a Massachusetts native offers a look-in.

Reverend Amanda Gerken-Nelson is from Attleboro, and now leads a church in Yarmouth, about 25 miles south of Lewiston.

She told 12 News there is, quote, "a veil of grief and fear" over the state.

Gerken-Nelson says the emotions people express are of sadness for those who have lost loved ones, but also anger that the crime could have been prevented.

She also says Maine's unique spirit and strength will help heal the communities affected.
