Son Clings To Life After Accidental Shooting In Cranston

A Cranston man has been jailed after his four-year-old son was shot in the head Tuesday.

Police say 33-year-old Michael Jones fired a 9-millimeter handgun in his home on Queen Street at around 10:15 a.m.

The bullet went through a wall and struck the boy; he was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital and remains in critical condition.

While police believe the shooting was an accident,

Jones is charged with felony assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jones was serving a two-year suspended sentence for a felony assault conviction in June of last year.
