Governor Says - "It's Cool To Be In School"

- State education officials have announced a new series of efforts to combat chronic absenteeism in schools.

Attendance Matter RI is designed to provide public information and reinforce the impact of poor attendance on education and communities.

The aim is for incentives to get small businesses involved.

RI Education Commissioner Angelica Infante-Green says the matter no longer can be left to teachers and administration alone.

The Annenberg Institute at Brown University recently released a study that found nearly 46-thousand public school students missed at least ten-percent of school days during the 2021-22 academic year.
