Amo Wins Congressional Seat- Ready To Make Positive Impact

Gabe Amo has won a special election to represent the 1st Congressional District seat for Rhode Island.

The 35-year-old, a Democrat and former White House staffer defeated Republican Gerry Leonard, a retired Marine Corps officer on Tuesday. Amo's win makes him the first Black person to represent the state in Congress.

Amo says he is honored to be a historic winner, being the first black person elected to congress from the state.

The Congressman elect says he is more in awe of the impact he can have on people's lives, for the good.

Among those freedom of prosperity... freedom from gun violence and freedom to make healthcare decisions without a politician being in the room.

He will serve out the remaining term of David Cicilline, who resigned. Amo is expected to be sworn in sometime next week.
